Altered Recipe Box

For this post I just had to share with you the altered recipe box that a made for a bridal shower that my friend was hosting. I had so much fun making this!! I purchased this box online from Jo-Ann's. This box is REALLY big. It fits 5x7 recipe cards and has a lot of room for hundreds of recipes.

I painted the box with acrylic paint. I used a baby blue and a mint green color to get the color that I was looking for. The papers I used to cover the box and for the tags are from the Best of K&Company Paper Stack and the Mariposa Glitter Paper Stack. I distressed the edges of all the papers with Tim Holtz distress ink and also used clear embossing powder to emboss some of the edges of the papers. I added sticker embellishments from several different sticker packs that I had in my stash. The flower is from Wal-Mart. I just cut the stem off and used Marshmallow Glimmer Mist to make it shimmer and to change it to an off-white color. I adhered the flower to the box with hot glue. I made the tags by hand. I just cut the paper to size and then clipped the corner. I did not Modgepodge the papers onto the box but in thinking back if I made another one of these boxes I would use Modgepodge. That way when it's used in the kitchen the papers do not get stained and it's easier to keep clean.

Here are some pictures of the box. Hope you enjoy. If you have any questions feel free to ask. If you're stopping by to visit...please leave a comment. Have a good night!!

Domestic Goddess Acrylic Tag

Hello Everyone! I hope that you all have had a good weekend! I wanted to share with you an acrylic tag that I put together. This is the first project that I have done using acrylic. I purchased this tag from Clear Scraps at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Tulsa, OK. I wanted to start out with something small so I thought that this tag would be fun!! And it was!!

I used the Domestic Goodess Paper from Graphic 45. I Glimmermisted the paper before I adhered it to the back of the tag with glossy accents. I used some tule (that I Glimmermisted with Olive Vine) and fibers at the top and then adhered a butterfly embellishment. I also used some tule, a flower embellishment and some pearls along the bottom of the tag.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Please leave a comment so I know that you've been here! Have a wonderful week!

Hanging Album - My Love

I haven't posted anything on my blog in quite some time!! I was very busy this summer and didn't do much scrapping at all! I've missed it and am getting back into the creating groove.

My husband took me to the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Tulsa, OK two weekends ago and I had soooo much fun! We went to the vendor fair and I attended several classes over the weekend. It was a BLAST and I would suggest to anyone to attend if you can!

So, after getting back into the scrapbooking mood I decided to create a hanging mini album over the weekend and make a video. This is my FIRST video EVER!! My husband just bought me a Flip, so I am still playing around with it and trying to get everything figured out. This is not the best video in the world, but I'm excited to have even made it.

I hope that you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by and leave a comment so I know you were here!

My Pink Stamper Gallery Card!!

This is the card that I submitted to My Pink Stamper for her My Pink Designers Request. She has chosen to feature my card in her Gallery on her blog!! I am sooo excited and this is SUCH AN HONOR!! If you have a chance and want to check it out hop over to her blog at www.mypinkstamper.com and then click on "Gallery" at the top of her page. You will have to scroll down to the album called "Plantin Schoolbook" and open that page. This will show you all the people that submitted projects using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. And you will see my "Star Birthday Card!!!" This is so exciting!!

I made this card for my nephew Devin's 2nd Birthday. I used Papertrey Ink Chocolate Brown cardstock and patterned paper from "Twinkle Twinkle Little Boy" by My Mind's Eye. This paperstack is sooo cute. It has lots of little boy papers!! I cut the star (with a shadow) on my Cricut at 3 inches from Plantin Schoolbook. The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from a stamp set called "Mixed Messages" from Papertrey Ink.

I put a strip of white cardstock from Papertrey Ink along the bottom of the inside of the card for a place to write and covered the edge of the white with a ribbon, also from Papertrey Ink. I put two more stars on the inside to add a little something.

Don't forget to hop over to www.mypinkstamper.com to look at my submission!! Have a GREAT WEEKEND! Nicki

Monster Thank You Card

This is the thank you card that I sent out to everyone for my son's 3rd Birthday. We had a Monster theme for his party so I figured that I would stick with the theme in the thank you card. This is my favorite in the cards that I've made this past month! Hope you enjoy!

This is an A2 size premade card and I inked the edges with brown ink. The cardstock is New Leaf and Dark Chocolate from Papertrey Ink. The stamp set is the CUTEST EVER!! It is called "Monster Mash" and I got it from cleardollarstamps.com. I stamped a background with a monster on the Dark Chocolate in brown ink and then stamped the monster on the white circle with black Stazon and colored him in with Copic markers. The "monster huge thanks" is from the same stamp set and stamped in brown ink. The circles are randomly cut using a 1 3/8 inch circle punch.

This is a close-up of the monster that I colored with Copic Markers.

Baby Girl Mini Album

This is a mini album that I made for my sister-in-law for her Birthday. My neice was born on Jan 18th and I made this album for my sister-in-law with pictures of the baby, Abigail. I made 2 paperbag albums for my mom and mother-in-law for last mother's day but other than that this is my first "mini album." I was pretty excited about how this turned out and I couldn't quit looking at it :) I had to put it in a box and mail it to her...and I didn't want to pack it away! It laid on my table for several days before I finally wrapped it up and put it in the box :) I didn't want to part with it :)

The album itself is cut on my Cricut with the Doodlecharms Cart. It is the circle tag (with no creative features) cut at 5 inches. I used a Diet Dr. Pepper cardboard box and it cut out so GREAT on my Cricut. I was actually really impressed with how well it did! I then used my paper and cut all my pages at 5 inches on the same image and then adhered my paper to the cardboard with Martha Stewart Gel Glue. I used the cardboard so that the pages would be a little bit sturdier.

The paper pack I used was A Family Affair by atd. I also used the embellisment pack A Family Affair throughout the album. I bought these at a store called Pamida (not sure how many people have these stores in their area). These paper packs and embellisment packs were buy one get one free, so I was pretty excited about that! The front page has flowers from the "Family" collection from Oriental Trading. I inked the edges of the flowers so that they wouldn't be so vibrant. I put a button in the middle of the flowers with tar jute tied on. The brown satin ribbon is from Hobby Lobby and the blue glitter flower and branch stickers are scrap stickers that I had left over from another project (sorry -I can't remember the company that made them). The "A" is from the embellishment pack and I adhered it to a 1.5 inch circle that I cut out with a punch. I used a metal binder clip that I purchased at Hobby Lobby to bind the album and tied ribbons on to hide the metal. The butterly charm I bought at Wal-Mart from the "button" rack. I was really surprised to find them there and the quality is actually pretty good.

The first page is one of my favorite pages. I LOVE the "Sweet Baby" stamp from Papertrey Ink!! I used Fruit Punch Stickles and rhinestones to make it GIRLY!! (I guess I like this album so much because I have a boy and don't get to use girly things too often!) The tag in the pocket was made with a sticker from the embellisment kit and I put a piece of design paper on the back so that it wouldn't be sticky. I did put some pictures in this album but left places for my sister-in-law to journal or add more pictures if she wants to.

On this page I cut a tag from Plantin Schoolbook at 1.5 inches and tucked it behind a chipboard saying from "In Flight" from Oreintal Trading. The opposite page is for journaling and I added a chipboard sentiment, also from the "In Flight" collection.

I left the next 2 pages pretty simple. I really wanted it to be all about the picture!! The sentiment is from the A Family Affair embellisment pack and the flowers are from the "In Flight" collection. Other than that, I added some rhinestones and a button and called it good.

This next page is sooooo cute! I used ribbon to make a "pocket" and tucked tiny scalloped circles into it with a "T" for her last name. I figured that she can journal on these if she wants. On the opposite page I cut a tiny envelope and tag, using the Doodlecharms cart. I just cut off the top of the envelope and added a glitter flower pull so that the tag can slip in and out. I added some rhinestones and glitter stickers...for the girly effect :)

This page is my FAVORITE!!! I just love, love, love it!! I used rows of lace and just glued down the bottoms with Martha Stewart Gel Glue to make a pocket. The flowers are again from the "In Flight" collection and I added a fabric button and straight pins for embellisment. I just love how it turned out!

I added glitter stickers and rhinestones to the back page along with some journaling so that she'll always remember when this album was made for her.

Hope you enjoyed looking at the pics of this album as much as I enjoyed making it! Have a good rest of the week!

Valentine Treat Bags

I know that Valentine's Day is long gone...but I am very behind with my posts. So, I am still posting things that I made for Valentine's Day. These are treat bags that I made for the ladies that I work with. I used 3 new stamps that I got from "Clear Dollar Stamps" - you can click on their name on the right side of my blog and it will take you to their website. These stamps are sooooo cute (and they are less than $2.00 each)!! I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the little bug stamp!! Did I mention that it is ADORABLE!!! I colored the stamps with my glitter pens and added buttons with jute. Anyway, I wanted to share my treat bags with you and hopefully I can move away from Valentine's Day :)

Valentine's Day Cards

These are all the Valentine's Day cards I made to send to our immediate family. Valentine's Day is really not my favorite holiday so making these cards was not extremely fun for me...but I got them done!!

The hearts in this card were made on my Cricut with the Doodlecharms cartridge. I cut the scalloped hearts at 1.5 inches on shadow and the pink hearts at 1.5 inches with the shift button on. The word LOVE was cut with the Stamping Solutions cartridge with plaid patterned paper from the "Sweet Treats" paperstack. I used the "LOVE YOU" phrase but stopped the Cricut before it cut the "YOU." That way I wouldn't waste any paper. Otherwise I just added buttons. I did not decorate the inside of this card.

I purchased these pink cards from Target in the $1.00 section. They were already scalloped and glittered. I added the two scalloped hearts cut at 2.5 inches and 1.5 inches with the Doodlecharms Cartridge. I used white glitter cardstock on the top to give it some shimmer. I added pink ribbon and flowers that I got from Hobby Lobby. I decorated the inside of this card. I cut out the fancy heart from the Stamping Solutions Cartridge and used the same cut on shadow to get the layered affect. Added the word Love, also from the Stamping Solutions Cartridge, some ribbon and stickles!

Again, I used a card that I purchased from Target and turned in vertically. I put a strip of silver glitter paper with a pink ribbon vertically down the card. I finished it off with an embossed heart sticker that I had in my collection - sorry, not sure what company made this sticker. I left this card very simple.

I used a white premade card for this one. I cut out a heart at 1 inch with the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. I then cut out a heart in the same hotpink cardstock with the same cartridge at 1.5 inches. I put the larger cut a few inches in on the cardstock so that I could put the smaller heart inside the cardstock, as shown in the picture. I cut out LOVE at 2.5 inches with the Stamping Solutions Cartridge and then again on the shadow feature. I used stickles on the smaller heart and with dots on the LOVE. I also added a pink ribbon with light pink hearts on it (this is my favorite ribbon...it's soooo cute!) On the inside of the card I kept it simple. I cut the double heart at 2 inches with the Stamping Solutions cartridge. (This is actually a border but I cut off the other two hearts to make it fit.) I also cut out the same hearts on the shadow feature and then added a little bow with the same pink heart ribbon.

I used a premade card that I bought from Target on this one. The patterned paper is pink polkadots and I cut the "Heart Envelope" at 3 inches with the Doodlecharms cartridge and shadowed it with light pink cardstock. I inked the envelope so that the details stood out. With the Shift function I cut out a light pink heart and added stickles before adhereing it to the envelope. I then put a strip of pink ribbon along the scalloped edge and used my Crop-A-Dile to set the 4 silver eyelets. I really liked the way this one turned out.

I used a piece of pink cardstock to make this card. I put a piece of plaid patterned paper from the "Sweet Treats" paper stack and a piece of darker colored pink cardstock along the bottom that I cut with "fancy scissors." I then added a piece of pink rickrack to hide the edge where the two papers meet. I cut the hearts from the Doodlecharms cartridge. The scalloped hearts were cut at 2.5 and 1.5 inches on the shadow feature and the solid pink cardstock hearts at 2.5 and 1.5 inches with the shift button on. I then added some pink flowers from Hobby Lobby. This is my favorite card! The inside of the card is pretty simple with the word LOVE cut from the Stamping Solutions Cartridge at 2.5 inches and with a strip of the same plaid pattern paper as the front of the card cut with "Fancy Scisssors." I used a pink scalloped heart cut at 1.5 inches and a blue button. It is just so darn cute!

Welcome to the Family!

My neice, Abigail, was born on 1/18/10. I have not been able to meet her yet as my brother and his family live in Florida...so I am really bummed about this. To welcome her to the family I made her this card and gave it to her with a blanket. Here are some pics...hope you enjoy!

This is the front of the card. The saying "Spread Your Wings and Fly" and the butterfly are from the "In Flight" set from Oriental Trading. The paper is out of my scrap tub.

For the inside of the card I used a peach colored cardstock and stamped it with brown flowers. I then inked the edges of the cardstock and put a strip of ivory lace across that I inked with brown ink. The flower is also from the "In Flight" set from Oriental Trading.

"Doggie" Birthday Card

Here is the card that I made for my Nephew's Birthday. He turns six this week! Happy Birthday Javon! I saw this dog on my Doodlecharms cartridge and just had to use it because it is so adorable!!

I cut the dog and doghouse at 3 inches and the Happy Birthday from my Stamping Solutions cartridge at 3 inches.

Altered Clipboard

Hey Everyone! It's been a while since I've posted something. I'm working on Valentine Cards, my nephew's birthday, my sister-in-law's birthday, my brother-in-law's birthday and the thank you cards for my son's birthday presents. Plus, my neice was born on 1/18 so I'm trying to put something together for her! It's been a crazy month so far! But, I did finish this altered clipboard and wanted to show you some pictures. This is my first clipboard that I've done, so it didn't quite turn out exactly as I had imagined but I'm going to keep practicing. I figure by the 5th or 6th one I should have it the way I want it. So, here are some pictures and I will post the pics of everything else I've been working on very soon. Hope you like it! Have a Happy Saturday!

This is the whole clipboard. I used a package of paper/embellishments called "Bohemian." I used a few stickles here and there and cut out the word "details" with the Stamping Solutions cartridge. I cut the tags with the Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge and embellished them with flowers, ribbon and fiber.

These pictures are close ups of the tags. These were a lot of fun to make! I think I will eventually put pictures on here but I haven't decided yet.

Altered Letters

Okay, so this is a take on an idea I got from Creations with Christina and Custom Crops. I thought that it was just the cutest idea and I've been looking for new things and ideas to decorate my house. I think that these turned out so cute. I made them while my husband was at work and when he got home he thought that I had purchased them this way, so I was excited about that! They do look a lot better in person than in pictures.

The letters were 50% off at Hobby Lobby and I painted them with Acrylic Craft Paint and then traced around the letters on my paper and adhered the paper with my Glue Glidder Pro. The bird and branch (with flowers) were cut on the Cricut with the Serenade Cartridge. I also used Stickles for the first time on the flowers and the bird.

Again, I am just so excited with how these turned out and would encourage anyone to try it. It's really easy and you can customize them to your style (and spell out any word). Hope you enjoy!

Monster Birthday Cupcakes

Here are the cupcakes that I made tonight for my son's birthday! I can't believe that 3 years ago tomorrow I was in the hospital having him! And, it was the worst weather day of the entire year. There was a blizzard and everyone was snowed in :) Well, here is my first try at the cupcakes. These are for the kids at his daycare and then I will have to make another batch for his family birthday party. I figured even if these didn't turn out very well the kids wouldn't care...they still taste great!! My son asked for "extra chocolate" so these are double fudge cupcakes. I think they turned out cute and he really loves them! Enjoy the pics!

Monster Birthday Invitations

Okay, so here are the Monster Birthday Invitations I made today for my son's 3rd Birthday Party. They are VERY simple, but I had to make a bunch of them, so I wanted them to get put together as quickly as possible. On the back I wrote "Our Little Monster is turning 3" and the information for the party. I think they turned out really cute.

I used the Plantin Schoolbook Cricut Cartridge for the "monster head" and the envelope. The "blast" is cut on Roly Poly at 4 1/2 and the envelope is cut on Roly Poly at 4 3/4.

Hope you enjoy!

Wow, I'm Blogging!

Hello Everyone....this is my FIRST blog post and I am really excited to get started! I am new to all this, so I'm still trying to figure everything out. My son's birthday is next week so I am going to be working on his birthday invitations today. He is turning 3 and we are having a Monster Theme Birthday party. I will post pictures on here after I am finished with the invitations. Again, I'm excited to be blogging and I hope that everyone enjoys this site. Have a GREAT Saturday!
